* "Underwood Jazz" is Belinda Underwood and one or more of the following: Dan Gaynor (piano), Tom Grant (piano), Glen Moore (bass), Phil Baker (bass), Dan Balmer (guitar), Martin Zarzar (drums), Clay Giberson (piano), Steve Christofferson (piano), Ramsey Embick (piano), Randy Porter (piano), Justin Franzino (accordion). Outside of Portland, "Underwood & Friends" consists of Belinda plus top jazz musicians from the towns she is touring. ** "Beliss" is Melissa and Belinda Underwood. Guitar, bass, ukuleles, and "genetically blended voices" (quoting a fellow artist). Mostly original songs and some of their favorite covers of songs by Bobbie Gentry, Joni Mitchell, Bjork, Calexico, Nick Drake, Dolly Parton and The Beatles. *** "Belinda on BASS" usually refers to her playing bass in a Middle Eastern dance band. Members vary but have included David Reihs (multiple instruments), Doug Shafer (oud and dumbek), Ishmael (kanun), Youseff Boutros (Egyptian violin), Clark Salisbury (oud), Michael Beach (percussion), Bobak Salehi (Persian violin), Lara Triback (percussion), Martin Zarzar (percussion) and others. They feature musicians and dancers from around the world who happen to be touring through Portland, and also work with Belly Dance Soul Fire, an internationally acclaimed all-star Portland-based belly dance troupe. **** Belinda dances the "Dance of the East" (aka belly dance) and is available for private parties, weddings, and instruction. video |
