Concert: Friday, June 6 at The Seasons Performance Hall Benny Green and Belinda Underwood performed a very entertaining set at The Seasons last week. Belinda has an understated singing style and an engaging on-stage chemistry with Benny Green. She likes to establish every nuance of the lyric and, with the simplicity style, you can suddenly find yourself in the midst of great emotion. This was the case with Michel Legrand’s “The Rest of Your Life,” where Green and Underwood combined to create a fantastic universe of space and sound. Benny Green as always, was constantly entertaining, supporting Belinda’s vocals and occasionally popping out front for a eye-popping solo. His versatility was on display, from stride to swing to Bill Evans to his own inimitable blues-based style. - Pat Strosahl |
